Russell Brand was deported out of Japan on Saturday due to his arrest record. The past came back to haunt Russell Brand on Saturday.
The 35-year-old comedian was deported out of Japan after arriving in the country due to old arrests on his record from 10 years ago. He was in the country to watch his wife, Katy Perry, perform.
And no one was as upset as Perry, who took to her Twitter account to vent her frustration.
"I am so sad," she wrote, adding the hashtag #tokyodreamcrushed. "I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place."
After a series of tweets supporting her husband, Perry, 25, realized the show must go on for her Japanese fans, "no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings!" she wrote.
Brand also tweeted his side of the drama. He posted a photo of himself while in detention and joked, "Planning escape from Japanese custody. It's bloody hard to to dig a tunnel with a chopstick."
A former heroin addict, Brand was arrested 11 times before he finally got clean in 2002. Last September, he was detained by police in Los Angeles after he attacked a paparazzo who Perry claimed put a photo lens up her dress at LAX Airport.
