Sexual assault suspect sought in NoHo police shooting

Los Angeles police today sought a sexual assault suspect with a mohawk hairdo who ran over a friend and rammed a police car outside a North Hollywood club while trying to get away from an officer, who fired on his white Nissan Maxima as he fled.

The suspect fled the parking lot at Hacienda Corona, 11700 Victory Boulevard, about 3:10 a.m. Saturday as an officer fired at him, police said.

The man who was run over was hospitalized at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in serious condition, police said, but his name was not made public.

In February, police broke up a brawl at the club that involved about 80 people.

The driver of the white Maxima was described as Hispanic in his 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches and 200 pounds.

Police said the suspect backed into an arriving police car, also striking his friend, then drove forward and struck him a second time.

An officer who tried to grab the driver was dragged a short distance before he opened fire on the vehicle, according to video of shooting aired on local television.
