Alec Baldwin had heads turning at the Tony Awards earlier this month with 28-year-old Hilaria Thomas on his arm as his date.Could Alec Baldwin's girlfriend be on her way to the small screen? Hilaria Thomas, the 28-year-old yoga instructor who has won the actor's heart, was spotted chatting with an IMG employee at Bianca Jade's two-year anniversary party for her fitness and fashion website MizzFIT.com at Technogym in SoHo on Thursday. A source tells us the exec, who was there to check out MizzFIT's crowd for a potential reality show based around the fitness trend expert, swapped info with Thomas to discuss the project further.
The NYU grad shot to the spotlight when she appeared on the "30 Rock" star's arm at the Tonys. But when reports popped up that the actor supposedly groped the beautiful brunette's shapely behind backstage, Baldwin rebuffed. A source close to the couple tells us Alec says they "are in love" and he "would never do anything to disrespect her." A spokesman for Baldwin says "Alec would never do that to anyone in public," but he declined to comment further on the relationship.
Sarah Palin's a poet ... and she doesn't know it!
You betcha we're excited to hear Sarah Palin's way with words has led to a book of verse. When 24,000 pages of the Belle of Wasilla's emails were released June 10, Michael Solomon, the executive editor of e-publisher Byliner.com, tells us he spent "two days mining them for poetic gold" and soon discovered that Palin "supplied the Mama Grizzly-lode."
The result is "I Hope Like Heck: The Selected Poems of Sarah Palin," a collection of 50 poems culled from Palin's electronic correspondence. Byliner ? which recently had a success with Jon Krakauer's expos of Central Asia Institute founder Greg Mortenson, "Three Cups of Deceit" ? will publish "I Hope Like Heck" Tuesday. The Daily Beast, where Solomon worked as a features editor, will also post an excerpt from the e-book. Among the poems included in the collections: "The Truth About The Moose," "You Are All Amazing ? Except Maybe for Bruce" and "Carpe Per Diem."
Wentz goes AWOL
Where was Wentz? That's what guests were wondering at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation's Time for Heroes picnic at L.A.'s Wadsworth Theater. Ashlee Simpson brought her son, Bronx, along with a few helpers to the event, but a source says her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Pete Wentz, was AWOL even though he'd agreed to work one of the game booths with Simpson. Fall Out Boy, indeed.
Ranger needs to cool off
Sean Avery has found an effective way to break a sweat in the off-season. The New York Ranger partied at AXE Lounge in Southampton Saturday night with model girlfriend Hilary Rhoda and a crew of their friends, but after an hour or so of intense dancing to DJ Kiss, the left winger found it too hot to bear. A source tells us Avery started yelling, "Too hot! It's too hot in here!" and asked club employees if they could turn up the air conditioner, as he was pouring "buckets of sweat." Maybe he's more used to ice-cold rinks than hot Hamptons nightclubs.
Mavericks owner gets a standing O
Mark Cuban is really feeling the love. The owner of the freshly minted NBA champion Dallas Mavericks got quite the ovation last week after his wheels touched down in the tristate area. "When I walked into Teterboro [Airport], everyone in that area started clapping. That was surreal," he told us Sunday via email.
Cuban spent part of his Friday night at midtown hot spot Lavo with a bunch of buddies but happened to run into some fellow Indiana University grads celebrating a birthday, making for a festive atmosphere. "Best part of the night was a guy who came up to me and had a complete video on his phone of our postgame celebration in Miami," Cuban relayed. "That was amazing to see."
