Bravo cancels 'Real Housewives' D.C. franchise

Apparently, the ladies in D.C. just can't stack up to the Real Housewives in New York, Atlanta, Orange County, Beverly Hills and Miami. Bravo exec Andy Cohen tells The Washington Post via e-mail that The Real Housewives of D.C., which premiered last August, is no more.
"We had an amazing season and we told stories that were unique to any other in the franchise," Cohen writes. "I wish all our D.C. wives the best and hope to work with them again in another capacity."
The show starred socialite Mary Scmidt Amons, modeling/talent agent Lynda Erkiletian, realtor Stacie Scott Turner, British interior designer Cat Ommanney and White House party-crasher Michaele Salahi.
Salahi, for her part, says the show was canned after Cohen refused the other wives' request to boot her off the show. "I'm grateful to him for that," she tells People.
The D.C. version of the Housewives performed modestly and was trumped by the success of the Beverly Hills version, which debuted last October and featured two of Paris Hilton's aunts.
D.C.'s cancellation marks the first time a Housewives series has not made it to a second season.
