NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A 22-year-old Sun Valley man was booked this morning on suspicion of pointing a green laser light at a police helicopter flying above a North Hollywood home.
Brandon Hicks was allegedly pointing a laser while a police air unit was patrolling about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 11600 block of Arminta Avenue, near Troost Avenue, Los Angeles police Lt. Sunil Dutta of Foothill Station said. Hicks was booked at about 1:30 a.m. today.
Officers went to the house and found Hicks hiding in a garage, Los Angeles police Sgt. Ben Trask of North Hollywood Station said. The laser was recovered inside the garage during an investigation.
Hicks could face felony charges for shining a laser at an aircraft, Trask said.
Pointing lasers at aircraft cockpits can blind pilots and damage eyesight, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
