Welsh TV presenter Steve Jones still has his fingers crossed he'll be chosen to front the US version of The X Factor.

Nicole Scherzinger is tipped to be the surprise host of the new reality show, but Steve hopes to co-present, even though Enrique Iglesias is rumoured to have nabbed the job share with Nicole.

'She's a great lady and she'll do a fantastic job,' says Steve, 34.

?From the meetings I've had about it, I'm still there.

?I know for a fact Dermot [O'Leary] wasn't the only British presenter in the mix.'

Simon Cowell has been slow to announce judges and presenters for the American version of the hit show, with only record executive Antonio LA Reid confirmed so far.

?Whoever Simon takes on board will be the right choice,' Steve tells Metro.

?The man's a genius.'
